Housing contrast - low income Outskirts of George Click on any picture to enlarge We flew from Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth then made our way by road, over 4 days, from there to CapeTown a distance of some 800km.  The southern coastal strip between the mountains and the sea is very beautiful - quite varied in topography and land use, and appears a great deal more prosperous than the north.  In the coastal towns there is a marked contrast between the prosperous settlements and the crowded conditions of the worker communities that service them.
