Sheba and Jim - Our Southern Africa Wildlife Adventure The briefest sketches and memories of 18 days in Southern Africa - Aug/Sept 2010  Elephants on the Chobe River - Botswana © Jim Browne  2010 Elephants on the Chobe River Botswana Marius, our main tour guide - explains local customs. Elsie Botha - took us to Botswana Our tour was devised and guided by Guttera Tours, the family company of Marius and Elsie Botha.  One of the family members, Marius, Elsie or Elsie Jnr. (their daughter) was with us at all times dealing with every little hiccup.  Their company motto, “Arrive as a client - depart as a friend”, perfectly describes the situation. Click on picture to enlarge Our trip covered two private game reserves, Hannah and Kapama and part of the Kruger National Park in South Africa and a visit to Chobe River Game Reserve at Kasane in Botswana. In addition we visited the mining, industrial, and electricity generation area around Johannesburg - the administration capital of South Africa at Pretoria - the spectacular mountain scenary around Blyde River Canyon and crossed the Drakensburg Mountains - flew to Port Elizabeth and explored the beautiful coastal strip by bus from Port Elizabeth to Capetown - flew to Livingston in Zambia, saw the Victoria falls and crossed the Zambezi river to Botswana and the Chobe river to Namibia. We learned something of the country, its people and their struggle to build a better life. At one time or another we traveled in South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and made a half-day river trip and walk to a native villiage in Namibia. Never ones to heed warning notices ....
